The business was incorporated in 1997 and has maintained its commitment to quality service and reliable auto parts. Their extensive inventory and specialized knowledge of automotive recycling have made them a go-to destination for mechanics, DIY car enthusiasts, and repair shops alike.

Parts Interchange System

Fagan’s Auto Parts uses a detailed, manual process to help customers find compatible auto parts across different vehicle makes and models. Unlike some larger chains with automated databases, their system relies on staff expertise and thorough customer information.

How Their System Works

  1. Detailed Customer Information: When seeking parts, especially unusual or vintage components, customers must provide specific details:
  2. Year, make, and model of vehicle
  3. Engine specifications and size
  4. Serial numbers and part numbers when available
  5. Special considerations (e.g., automatic vs. manual transmission)
  6. Staff Expertise: Experienced employees use their knowledge to cross-reference parts compatibility, helping identify interchangeable options from their extensive inventory.
  7. Direct Communication: Unlike fully self-service yards, Fagan’s system emphasizes person-to-person interaction, allowing for clarification questions and precise matching.

This approach, while more traditional than computerized interchange systems, ensures careful attention to compatibility details and reduces the risk of mismatched parts.

Tools and Equipment

Part Category Recommended Tools
Basic Tools (All Parts) Socket set, wrenches, pliers, pry bars, cutting tools
Engines/Transmissions Engine hoist, transmission jack, drain pan, torque wrench
Doors/Body Panels Sheet metal shears, door hinge tool, impact chisel
Suspension/Steering Tie rod separator, ball joint press
Electronics/Wiring Multimeter, wire strippers/crimpers

Fagan’s Auto Parts does not explicitly provide tools for customers, which is standard practice among most salvage yards. Visitors should come prepared with their own tools appropriate for the parts they intend to remove.

Before visiting, it’s recommended to:
Call ahead to confirm any specific tool requirements
Bring safety equipment (gloves, eye protection)
Consider weather conditions and dress appropriately
Bring a parts cart or dolly for heavy items

Cash for Junk Cars

While Fagan’s Auto Parts is primarily known as a salvage parts supplier, they may also purchase junk vehicles as part of their automotive recycling operation. As one of the South’s largest salvage operations specializing in late-model parts, they likely source vehicles for dismantling.

Key points about their potential vehicle purchasing:

  • Their 24/7 wrecker service suggests they recover vehicles that may later be processed for parts
  • As an established salvage yard, they typically need a steady supply of vehicles to maintain inventory
  • Their focus on late-model salvage parts indicates they may prefer newer vehicles

However, their public materials don’t explicitly confirm cash-for-cars programs or specify condition requirements for purchased vehicles. For accurate information about selling your junk car to Fagan’s, contact them directly at 256–447–8793 or via email at [email protected].

Rated this company 1/5

I went there today to get a part and was told that it would be about 30 – 40 minutes because the guy was at lunch. I went to a antique shop to waste time and then came back an hour later. When I got there, another customer was already up at the counter and then I went to ask the guy about the part I needed. He told me that the guy would come up to look for the part as soon as he helped the customer that was ahead of me. At no point did he radio to the other guy or communicate anything to the other guy to let him know that another customer was wanting a part. I inquired about several other parts while waiting and the guy at the counter acted like he wanted to anything besides helping me, even walking away with no words spoken at one point. Another customer came in with a starter that he has purchased there and said he forgot a wire for it, and he was told to go back and get the wire off himself. When I inquired if they let customers get their own parts off, I was told no! I wasted an hour and a half of my time dealing with these guys. I would not go back there to do business with them. It was obvious that they didn't want my business.

Probably Best Inventory of (Salvaged) Parts Around. Good place to find discontinued Parts for Vehicles. I bought a Seat for my Vehicle there. No one had one. Not Ebay, no one. Not even a Part #. Use their Website to Search for Your Vehicle and Part you need. Make sure to check Grade. “A” is good condition (like school) and so forth. Then Call them. They can “Pull” the Part (take it off the Vehicle) & have it ready for you. Take Cash. It will save you a Debit/Credit Card Fee. Good guys to work with.
