Common Questions About Auto Salvage Co
1. How do I sell my car to Auto Salvage Co or similar junkyards?
To sell a vehicle, most junkyards require basic identification details (VIN, mileage) and description of the car’s condition (e.g., damaged engine, non-running, etc.). For online services, the process involves:
– Submitting vehicle details (make, model, year, damage type)
– Receiving a cash offer based on factors like salvage value, mileage, and damage
– Scheduling free towing with title transfer and payment upon pickup
Auto Salvage Co likely follows a traditional process, possibly requiring in-person appraisal or phone/email inquiries due to limited online presence.
2. What types of cars do they accept?
Most salvage yards, including Auto Salvage Co, typically purchase all types of vehicles, including:
– Non-running or damaged cars (collision-damaged, engine/transmission failures)
– Old or high-mileage vehicles (e.g., >150,000 miles)
– Salvaged or totaled vehicles declared by insurance
3. Do they offer free towing or pickup?
Many modern services provide free towing within 48 hours of offer acceptance. For Auto Salvage Co, third-party towing services may be used, or customers may need to arrange transport themselves. Always confirm towing policies in advance.
4. Can I buy used or new parts from Auto Salvage Co?
Auto Salvage Co advertises “new auto parts” according to its BBB profile, suggesting they may sell brand-new parts rather than used salvaged parts. In contrast, competitors like 3 Sons Auto Salvage specialize in salvage parts, offering used parts from wrecked vehicles. Always verify part origin (new vs. used) and warranty terms.
5. How is the vehicle’s price determined?
Pricing depends on multiple factors:
– Condition: Running vs. non-running, repairable damage vs. totaled
– Mileage: Higher mileage often reduces value
– Salvage demand: Parts like engines, transmissions, or electronics in high demand may command better prices
– Market trends: Prices fluctuate based on regional demand for scrap metal or parts
6. What documents do I need to sell my car?
Typically required:
– Title: A clear title proving ownership
– Keys and registration: For non-running vehicles, these may still be needed
– Proof of identity: A state-issued ID to finalize the sale
7. Are they trustworthy? How do I verify their reputation?
Check:
– BBB ratings: Auto Salvage Co is listed but not accredited; review customer complaints and responses
– Online reviews: Look for Google, Yelp, or Facebook ratings from local customers
– References: Ask neighbors or mechanics for recommendations

They had the axle I needed. It's hard to find but not rare. It was a lot of work getting them to sell it to me. The woman in the office is not helpful at all, refers all questions to the man who is distant at best and downright rude sometimes. Twice I phoned for information to save a drive over and twice my call was not returned. He acts like the only junkyard in the area, maybe the others are worse.
Oh, and they only accept cash and a receipt was never offered to me.

If you are in to fixing the problems with your own car, here is a place to get parts. At least for cars younger than about 15 years old.

I've been coming here for years, always had good selection at descent prices. However, they had called the place where I got my alternator tested and instructed them to tell me its a good part. Won't be going back, I didn't think they would lower their standards to get a part sold.
