Today, B & H continues to serve the Elkton community and surrounding areas with a focus on quality used auto parts and automotive recycling services, building on decades of industry experience.

This flexibility makes B & H accessible to both experienced mechanics looking to save money and casual car owners needing expert guidance. The yard’s seven-day operation schedule emphasizes customer convenience, making auto parts shopping possible even on weekends.

Vehicle Types and Inventory

B & H Auto Parts maintains a diverse inventory of foreign and domestic cars and trucks for parts removal. While specific makes and models aren’t explicitly listed in available sources, the business caters to a wide range of vehicle types common to salvage yards.

Their inventory likely includes popular American brands like Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge, alongside foreign manufacturers such as Toyota, Honda, and Nissan. The salvage yard’s connection to Complete Recycling Group, which deals with lease returns and trade-ins, suggests potential access to later-model vehicles, though B & H focuses primarily on parts rather than whole vehicle sales.

The yard’s emphasis on rebuilding services indicates they maintain quality parts for various systems, including engines, transmissions, and body panels. For customers seeking specific inventory information, direct contact with the business is recommended.

Popular Auto Parts

The most sought-after used parts at B & H Auto Parts reflect typical salvage yard purchasing patterns, focusing on items that retain value and functionality when sourced second-hand.

Major Mechanical Parts

  • Engines and Transmissions: These represent significant cost savings compared to new parts and are frequently purchased for older vehicles
  • Axles and Rear Ends: Common drivetrain replacements that function well when sourced from salvage
  • Electrical Parts: Starters and alternators provide affordable replacements for common failures

Body and Exterior Parts

  • Doors, Hoods, and Bumpers: Popular for collision repairs and cosmetic restoration
  • Wheels: Often purchased for both practical and aesthetic upgrades

Other Common Purchases

  • Suspension Parts: Control arms, shocks, and struts offer cost-effective repair options

B & H Auto Parts, like most reputable salvage yards, generally advises against purchasing certain wear items used (belts, brake pads, filters, etc.) due to safety and reliability concerns. Parts Interchange System

B & H Auto Parts employs a manual parts identification system that combines customer information with staff expertise to ensure compatibility. This practical approach helps customers find exactly what they need, even when parts may cross over between different vehicle models.

The process works as follows:
1. Customer Information Collection: Customers provide specific vehicle details, including VIN numbers and factory part codes (often found on glovebox stickers)
2. Staff Verification: Experienced staff use this data to cross-reference parts across different vehicle models
3. Part Number Matching: The system confirms compatibility through careful part number comparison

This personalized approach offers several advantages:
Pre-purchase Verification: Staff confirm parts availability before customers arrive
Cross-regional Compatibility: The system accommodates customers from various states
Flexible Support: Staff can assist with last-minute requests when possible

While not fully digital, B & H’s reliance on VIN decoding and part number validation ensures customers receive compatible parts regardless of their technical knowledge.

Warranty Information

B & H Auto Parts has restructured its warranty policies over time, according to customer feedback. Currently, warranties are no longer included as standard for used parts but are available as optional add-ons for an additional fee.

Neither specific warranty duration periods (such as 30, 60, or 90 days) nor exact pricing for these optional warranties are publicly listed. Customers should inquire directly about current terms when making purchases.

Several considerations affect the warranty experience:
Part Condition: Some customers note that interiors from pulled vehicles may show wear, including torn materials or musty odors
Extended Options: No information about extended warranty programs exists in available sources
Verification Process: The company’s part verification processes (VIN cross-checking) may influence warranty eligibility

For best results, buyers should discuss warranty options before completing their purchase, especially for major parts like engines or transmissions.

Entry Fee and Costs

Based on available information, there is no explicit mention of a cover fee required to enter B & H Auto Parts. The business operates as a standard auto parts provider without indications of gated entry or access charges in public records.

Similarly, no specific discount programs are documented in available sources. While the company facilitates scrap metal pricing inquiries, this relates to material valuation rather than entry or purchase discounts.

For precise details on potential fees or discount opportunities, customers are advised to contact B & H Auto Parts directly. As primarily a salvage and parts supplier, their business model typically prioritizes part purchases over entry fees.

Hours of Operation

B & H Auto Parts maintains a consistent schedule to accommodate both weekday and weekend customers:

Weekdays
Monday-Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Weekends

Sunday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

The facility closes earlier on weekends compared to weekdays but remains accessible throughout the week. The business accepts credit cards and provides customer parking, with additional locations in the region specializing in scrap metal and heavy truck parts.

Common Questions

Common Questions About B & H Auto Parts in Elkton, MD, and Similar Junkyards

1. How reliable are parts from B & H Auto?

Parts from junkyards like B & H Auto are typically tested to function, but quality can vary. Some customers report issues with short-term failures, as seen in a BBB complaint where a transmission lasted only 1.5 weeks. However, a positive review for the Elkton location notes a management change leading to improved service and genuine interest from staff. Always confirm part condition with the seller and request a warranty if available.

2. What warranty policies do they offer?

B & H Auto’s warranty policies have caused disputes. A customer alleged a transmission warranty was denied despite purchasing within the coverage period, with claims of expired terms or insufficient stock. The Elkton location’s updated management may offer clearer terms, but verify specifics upfront to avoid misunderstandings.

3. Are customer service experiences consistent?

Experiences vary. A BBB complaint highlighted unresponsive employees, ownership secrecy, and evasion tactics when contacting management. Conversely, the Elkton location’s updated management reportedly provides helpful interactions, suggesting branch-specific improvements.

4. How do prices compare to new parts?

Junkyard prices are generally lower than new parts, with savings often exceeding 30–50%. However, quality assurance differs, and buyers may face hidden costs if parts fail. Negotiation opportunities exist, but terms depend on the seller’s flexibility.

5. Can parts be returned or refunded if defective?

Return policies are inconsistent. A customer struggled to secure a replacement or refund for faulty engines, citing expired warranties or unavailability. Elkton’s management shift might offer better return flexibility, but confirm policies before purchase.

6. How can I verify inventory for specific parts?

Contact B & H Auto directly via phone or visit in person to confirm part availability. Online directories may list locations, but real-time stock isn’t guaranteed. Be prepared to describe the part (e.g., model, year, condition) for accurate responses.

7. Are environmental or safety concerns justified?

Junkyards like B & H Auto recycle parts sustainably, reducing landfill waste. However, parts may lack manufacturer certifications. While most are safe if inspected, cross-check VIN numbers or part codes to ensure compatibility.

Went looking for some parts for my jeep Cherokee got to the location on Pulaski highway and was then directed to a different location for car parts about 3 1/2 miles away. when I got there I noticed a sign saying to go to the other side so I did and then noticed that door was locked to and was greeted by somebody opening the window saying “here”. I proceeded to step up to the window where the rude man asked what I needed and while I was still confused at the idea of being served through the window I got my thoughts together and Asked for what I came for and he demanding to know if that he found the parts that I would buy them and I said if the condition was right.
He then got on the walkie-talkie and paged somebody about three times while I sat there with my head through a window. I didn’t hear any response from the radio and by that time I already had enough so I said thanks anyway and left, horrible customer service employees with attitude won’t be spending my money here

Service depends on who you get. Some employees are very professional and kind, others are rude and uninterested. The hours listed on the website are not accurate, the place closes as early as 3:30 some days. But for the most part the service is worth it, the prices are fair.
