J & J Auto Sales & Salvage at 276 Jordan Springs Rd, Alfred, ME 04002

J & J Auto Sales & Salvage is a self-service auto salvage yard and used auto parts dealer at 276 Jordan Springs Rd in Alfred, Maine. They sell salvaged vehicles, used car parts, and scrap metal to customers looking for affordable alternatives to new parts. Services & What to Expect

J & J Auto Sales & Salvage is a self-service salvage yard. Customers search for and remove parts from vehicles on their own. The yard carries used car parts like engines, transmissions, body panels, and mechanical components from salvaged vehicles. You can also buy whole salvaged cars if needed. They also take scrap metal for recycling, with free pickups in the area.

How Self-Service Works

To enter the yard, visit during open hours. Basic tools are usually on-site, but bringing your own can help. Parts are grouped by vehicle type and category, but you’ll need to look through inventory yourself. Staff can help identify parts or answer questions, but you’re responsible for finding and removing what you need. Pay at the time of purchase and take the parts with you.

What to Bring

  • A clear idea of the part or vehicle you need
  • Basic hand tools (if you don’t want to use yard tools)
  • A way to transport parts (many are heavy and bulky)
  • Cash or a card they accept (check payment methods first)
  • Work gloves and safety gear (some parts may be sharp or dirty)

Scrap Metal Recycling

J & J Auto Sales & Salvage also recycles scrap metal. They offer free pickups for recyclable materials in the local area. Common accepted items include:

  • Car bodies and frames
  • Metal appliances
  • Construction scrap
  • Industrial metal waste
Call ahead to schedule a pickup or confirm drop-off rules.

Need to Get Rid of a Junk Car?

Picked up a 2012 Silverado from this place a couple months back. Wanted to wait and see how it held up before leaving a review. It’s got some issues, but honestly, that’s what you expect with a used truck. Got a solid deal on it, though. If I need another car down the road, I’d probably come back here. ---

I’d give this place zero stars if I could. Don’t waste your money here. Bought a transit van, paid cash upfront, and made it clear I’d only take it if they fixed the brakes and coolant leak. They promised it’d be ready by Monday. Neither problem was touched. This van’s been nothing but a nightmare since day one—new sway bar links, a motor mount, brakes, the coolant leak, valve cover gasket, and an axle. These people aren’t honest. I’m pretty sure they drive these cars out of state just to get a sticker, which is straight-up illegal. All this happened within a month of buying it. I’m reporting them and their sticker station to the DOT. Stay far away from this place. ---

Look, just go to Lambert’s in Rochester. These guys don’t even realize wiring has copper in it—prices are *terrible*, and the whole place feels shady. I heard the same warning before I went, but I figured, *how bad could it be?* Turns out, it was that bad. ---

The woman who answered the phone was downright rude. First few times I called, they were running late, and by the last call, she had some guy on the line yelling over her—neither of us could hear a thing. She didn’t even tell him what car I was selling, so he left without it. Then they told me to come back and grab it. The driver was nice, but they showed up *way* late—I told them 3:15 was the final time, and they rolled in at 3:44. I’m never dealing with them again, and I sure as hell won’t recommend them to anyone. ---

Don’t even think about selling your car here. The guy who picked it up hit my wife’s raised bed with his truck, the check they gave me bounced, and my bank hit me with a bad check fee. They claimed there was some embezzlement mess and told me to come back after work at 4 p.m. for cash—even though their website says they close at 5. I showed up at 4, and the place was empty except for a bunch of guys in the garage with half a dozen liquor bottles on a car. Called the next day, and they said to come in *before* 4 p.m. for cash. I asked three times—*before 4, cash*—and the guy said yes. Got there, and the girl at the desk said they had no cash. She wrote me another check, and I had to drive to their bank to cash it myself. Thankfully, it cleared, but I had to leave work early for this whole circus. Two weeks of nonsense. Read the reviews and run the other way.
