Dirkes Used Auto Parts is a self-service auto salvage yard and used auto parts store at 6935 E Black Horse Pike in Mays Landing, NJ. Open since 1969, the family-owned business has run for over 50 years, offering a u-pull-it yard and a retail parts counter. Customers can search for parts in the yard themselves or buy pre-pulled parts from the store. The yard takes in vehicles for salvage but doesn’t publicly advertise buying cars. Hours are steady Monday through Thursday, shorter on Sunday, and closed on Saturdays.

Services & What to Expect

Dirkes offers two main services: a self-service u-pull-it yard and a retail parts counter. In the u-pull-it yard, customers find and remove parts from salvaged vehicles on their own. The retail counter sells parts that have already been pulled. The business accepts vehicles for salvage but doesn’t actively buy cars from the public. Bring your own tools and safety gear for the u-pull-it yard—none are provided.

Don’t waste your money on batteries here. Bought two 12-volt ones, and both were dead on arrival. The owner basically said they were only good for parts. Save yourself the hassle and take your business elsewhere. ---

I blew a tire right outside their place on the Pike, and these guys were a lifesaver. No hesitation—they just handed me a jack and wrench so I could change it myself. No strings attached, no attitude. Just good people doing a solid for a stranger. If you’re ever in a bind near there, they’re the kind of shop you want around. ---

My dog and I stopped by, and I was glad they’re open every day of the week. She couldn’t come into the yard—too much metal lying around—but she was overheating in the car, so I had to let her out for a bit. Worth the trip just for the convenience! ---

The place is well-organized, with parts grouped by manufacturer, which makes it a lot easier to hunt for what you need. They mostly carry older models—10 years or newer—but the selection is solid, and the prices are reasonable. The only downside is there’s no online inventory, so you’ve got to come in person to see what they’ve got. I found exactly what I was looking for without much trouble, and the people working there were easy to talk to. If you’re hunting for parts on older cars, it’s worth the drive.

The prices here are fair, and I’ve never had trouble finding the parts I need. They’ve got cars for sale on the lot too, and the way they group them by make and model makes it easy to spot what you’re looking for. The staff is friendly, and even though it’s a junkyard, I always feel safe walking around. Only closes on major holidays—open seven days a week, though the office hours are a little shorter on Sundays. ---
